Refreshing the exterior of your home plays a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity and value of your property. Seize the opportunity of the favourable weather conditions and do the home projects that you have been putting off during the hot summer days.
One of the main reasons why autumn should be chosen for exterior projects is constant and mild weather conditions. Autumn usually brings lower temperatures and humidity that are ideal for the application of the material. Unlike hot summer days where the material dries too quickly, which can result in a less durable finish, the moderate time of autumn provides a smooth application and lasting protection. Over the past few years, we have been following the trend of less rainfall during autumn, so the chance of delaying the project is smaller. Tidying up the façade of your home during this period allows the material to dry properly before the harsh cold winter weather comes, this extended time allows the material to form a solid protective barrier against moisture and UV radiation.
Painting the façade and properly installed thermal insulation system of your home during the autumn has not only a decorative function but also provides long-term protection and ensures a pleasant and healthy atmosphere in your home. A fresh layer of material and detailed preparatory work acts as a shield against moisture and pests. If you live in an area with harsh winters, you have an extra stimulation to ensure that your home is well prepared for the winter months when it is exposed to snow, ice, and sleet. Depending on the choice and need, the FASAKRIL façade exterior protection system offers a wide range of products and provides guaranteed safe wall protection.
Precautions
Although autumn is an excellent time to do thermal insulation and paint the façade of your home, there are a few precautions that should be considered before starting this project.
It is crucial that the surface is dry. Therefore, before starting work check the weather conditions so that the climate is moderate, mild, and without rain. Also, the material needs some time to dry because of that the best time to apply is between 10:00 in the morning and 15:00 in the afternoon. If possible, start the application on the side of the house that is not sunny and continue in this way so that you follow the movement of the sun.
Lower temperatures and high humidity cause the material to dry more slowly therefore, the drying time of the material can be extended. Leave enough time to apply material between coats. The optimum operating temperature is from +10°C to +30°C. Pay attention to the dew point. The dew point is the temperature at which moisture will condense on the surface. It is not advisable to apply the material if the dew point is below 5 °C. All surfaces should be clean and dry before applying the material. If dew forms on the treated surface, which has not had enough time to dry, the appearance of superficial sweating or leaching problems is possible, especially with paints in darker shades.
